Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU) activist Angel Frometa Lobaina was arrested by Captain Roberto Cardoza Fuentes and Lieutenant Carlos Alberto Fuentes, agents of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR). The arrest took place because the activist demonstrated in the middle of the street against the imprisonment of activist José Daniel Ferrer García, shouting several slogans against the regime. The activist was taken to the PNR unit where he was detained for over 10 hours under threats and interrogation by Captain Yudelquis Abad, agent of the Department of State Security (DSE), who threatened the activist with a beating if he continued to disrupt public order. The officer also told him that he was doing whatever he wanted because they still didn't have orders to put him in jail because when they did, "not even the Chinese doctor was going to save him from a cell in the compound”. The activist was released after being fined $600 Cuban pesos ($19) for public disorder and for allegedly having offended the figure of the commander.
