A reporter from the Palenque Vision Agency, Geovanis Cepúlveda Martínez, was violently detained by several policemen on the street when he was on his way home. The policemen beat him over his head and back and then took him to the 3rd Police Unit in the municipality of Camagüey. There, he was interrogated by State Security agents known as Frank and Michael. They threatened him with a trial for an alleged assault, with possible sentence between 2 and 5 years in prison. The activist reacted by going on hunger strike. The officials released him on 4 May at about 10 am and imposed on him a preventive measure of house arrest for the above-mentioned crime.
