Woman detained and fined arbitrarily



Tania Echevarría Menéndez, along with a group of members of the Party for Democracy of Pedro Luis Boitel Abraham were walking back down Máximo Gómez Street and Mario Muñoz Street, when a patrol car appeared and one of the police officers told her that she was being arrested. In car #459, Tania was taken to the police station at 2:20 p.m. During the arrest, the corresponding Detention Act was not lifted. Before being released, they imposed a fine of $150.00 CUP (4.6 euros) for "breaking the police code".
