Arrested and fined for paying homage to the Apostle

Carida Burunate Gómez, with other members of the Party for Democracy of Pedro Luis Boitel Abraham, was in the park to place a wreath for the Apostle when officers of the political police arrived in a patrol car. One of the political police officers said he had orders not to allow them to place the wreath. Burunate and the rest of the activists spoke with the officers. Burunate was forced into the patrol car and taken to the police station. During the the arrest, they did not issue the arrest record or allow her to make the telephone call as established by law. She was released at 4 p.m. with a fine of 150.00 CUP (4.6 euro).
