Detained at the checkpoint in Cayamo

On February 21, 2016, an activist Rafael Enrique Chivas Castillo was going to Santiago de Cuba to attend Mass in the Santuario del Cobre. His aim was to support Ladies in White and Todos Marchamos campaign which calls for freeedom for political prisoners. He was stopped at 5:30 am at the checkpoint in Cayamo and detained by Lt Col Cantillo - a secret police chief and State Security official Montalvo together with the National Revolutionary Police. He was later driven to the Police Department in Caimanera. Chivas Castillo was detained until 12 pm and the released.
