An activist from Guantánamo detained and beaten by State Security



On 23 September 2021, Henry Couto Guzmán, an activist from the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU), was on his way to the prosecutor's office in the city of Guantánamo in order to submit a letter asking for release of an activist José Daniel Ferrer García. When he was on the 3 Sur and Los Maceos Street, he was detained and beaten up by the State Security officials. The latter then took the activist to the police unit Parque 24. There he was fined 2000 pesos and threatened with imprisonment. After that he was transported home.
