In the morning, 7 December 2020, when Bartolo Cantillo Romero was walking down the street Calixto García and Pinto, he was detained by police officers who had received orders from the State Security officials Lionis and Luis Ángel. After that, Bartolo was taken to the police unit known as Parque 24 situated in the Guantánamo Province. There, he was put in a prison cell and searched by the officials and policemen who were apparently looking for his cell phone and threatening him with beating him up. After that, he was taken to an office where he received an official warning, according to the officials due to his dangerousness for the society. "You do not have much time left and you will soon put in prison", official Lionis told him, "collaborate with us and you will be fine." Bartolo replied that he would rather die.
