Armando R. Serante Méndez is a worker from the UEB Maintenance of the Central Electric Company Antonio Guiteras Matanzas. He was picked up from his house during his rest time at 2 a.m. to solve a problem that occurred in the boiler of the company. Evaluating the damages, he said that the temperature had to decrease and that could take from 3 to 4 hours. The technical director, who mistreats Armando and offends him with words, said that they did not have that time and that the problem had to be resolved immediately. When Armando tried to explain him the technical reasons why it could not be done earlier, the director ordered to look for another mechanic, because he did not want to see Armando in the company anymore and that on Monday he would be fired. After all, the new mechanic analysed the situation that they had to wait 4 hours until the temperature decreases.
A complaint has been written and sent to the Basic Labor Justice Institution about the arbitrary dismissal. Exposing the abuse and the violation of the safety and health measures by the technical director. Now, he is appealing to the Labor Section of the Municipal Court with the aim of coming back to work and being paid retroactively for the suffered damages and then request the dismissal as he is not longer interested in working at the company.
