Bartolo was about to attend a Sunday Mass in the Santa Catalina de Ricci Church. When he left his house, he was detained by a State Security (DSE) official known as Edwin Jefferson or Kevin along with his three colleagues until that moment unknown. He was taken to the police station in El Salvador where they told him that he does not have a lot of time left and willl be put in a prison. He was realesed at about 8 pm the next day without any furthet consequences.
