On 3 October 2020, at about 9 am, an activist from the Cuban Reflection Movement (MCR), Aurelio Cabrera González, delivered a public speech near the bridge over the Yayabo River in the city of Sancti Spíritus. Cabrera González was asking for improvement of living conditions of locals as well as of the whole Cuban population. Then he was arrested by the chief of the Confrontation Unit known as Major Luisito and Carlos Rodríguez known as Captain Bryan, both from the State Security. After that he was driven in a Lada car to the provincial secret police headquarters known as VIVAC in Julio Antonio Mella. There he was kept for 24 hours and then released. Cabrera González is worried about an imprisonment in the future since the threats he received were very strong.
