An activist from the Cuban Patriotic Union expelled from her house with her family



On 15 June, 2021, in the afternoon hours, Anairis Miranda Leivas, along with her family, was a victim of repudiation act carried out by the State Security, secret police and Rapid Response Unit. The officials came equipped with cold weapons and threatened them with death. The family had to leave the Gibara Municipality and walk 15 kilometers with two little children until they found a transportation. When they arrived at the checkpoint Aguas Claras in the municipality of Holguín, an official known as Yusnel tried to send them back to Gibara. Eventually, the family was allowed to enter the Holguín Province, however, they became victims of another police action. Anairis was violently detained and taken to a police unit called Pedernal. There she went on hunger strike. She was released 72 hours later.
