An UNPACU activist expelled from her house and detained for 72 hours



On 15 June, 2021, in the afternoon hours, Adairis Miranda Leivas, an activist from the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU), was a victim of repudiation act carried out by the State Security, secret police and Rapid Response Unit. The officials came equipped with cold weapons and threatened her with death. The activist had to leave the Gibara Municipality and walk 15 kilometers until she found a transportation. When she arrived at the checkpoint Aguas Claras in the municipality of Holguín, an official known as Yusnel tried to send her back to Gibara. Eventually, Adairis was allowed to enter the Holguín Province, however, she became a victim of another police operation. She was violently detained and taken to a police unit called Pedernal, where she went on hunger strike. She was released 72 hours later.
