Activist prevented from traveling to Peru where she was about to attend an event



Zaray Fernández García is a human rights activist and was invited to participate in an youth event in Lima, Peru. At night on 13 December 2019, she was about to board her flight heading to Lima. However, the immigration officers prevented her from continuing, claiming that she was banned from leaving the country, so she cannot travel. This information was also confirmed by the employees of the José Martí International Airport in Havana, when they were checking the situation. According to them, Zaray's status appears in the system as "regulated" for the reason of public interest, which means she cannot leave the country.
