Human rights activist interrogated and threatened at the police station in Jovellanos

Jorge Luis Aveleira Rodríguez, a member of the Party for Democracy Pedro Luis Boitel Abraham, was detained on 11 August, 2020, when he was leaving the house of the Lady in White Aleida Cofiño. He was put in a patrol car and driven to the police station in Jovellanos. There, he was taken to an office where three secret police officers had been already waiting. He was interrogated by officials known as Orelvis Tápanes and Darío Torres who told him that the detention took place since several posters had appeared in the city. On that occasion, they defamed some other regime opponents and threatened Aveleira Rodríguez that they could talk to his employer to fire him. He was released at 10:30 on the same day.
