Alexánder Aguilar Sosa was visited by the sector police chief in the town of Torriente in the municipality of Jagüey Grande on Wednesday, 27 January 2021. The official told him to come to the municipal police station on the next day, based on the order issued by police headquarters. Alexánder replied that he did not have money to go to Jagüey Grande and they would need to send a patrol car if they wanted to see him. The patrol car arrived already in the afternoon and Alexánder was detained, handcuffed and taken to the police station. There he was kept in a prison cell. On the next day, 28 January, at 11:30 am he was released with two fines in the amount of 200 pesos (CUP) each one, according to the Decree Law of the Penal Code, Article 8, Section 3.
