State Security threatens independent journalist's wife

Yanela, wife of the independent journalist Augusto César San Martín, was summoned to appear at the Central Havana Police Unit where State Security officers passed themselves off as members of the Directorate of Immigration and Immigration (DIE). Yanela was intimidated and warned of possible imprisonment of her husband if he continued to practice independent journalism. Even though she did not participate in it, they used threats to frighten her and make her husband stop working. Augusto César stated, "The pressure exerted on my wife can be understood as psychological abuse and gender violence, as they used the police authority to coerce a family member. Before her, the agents themselves acknowledged that their actions were incorrect and any detention or adjustment should be settled directly with me because I have remained linked to independent journalism since 1998."
