Human rights activist Charles Rodríguez Ledesma was at the house of Roberto Arsenio to participate in the meeting for the Independent Pedagogues Association of Cuba, of which he is vicepresident. In the morning hours, officials of the political police, Orestes Martínez and Orlando Figueroa, arrived at the house looking for him. Both of the men were taken to the municipal police station of Los Arabos. Charles Rodríguez was taken into an office and interrogated by captain Orlando Figueroa who said to him: "You, as a political opponent, are not allowed to visit this province." He was released at 1:00 pm the same day.
