An UNPACU activist detained while heading to join a Human Rights Day event

On 10 December 2020, an activist from the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU), Franklin García Rubio, was on his way to Guantánamo Province in order to join an event organized on the occasion of the Human Rights Day. He was detained at the Caimanera police checkpoint located at the exit of Guantánamo Municipality. There he was put in the patrol car no. 606 and driven to the unit called Parque 24 where he was kept in detention for more than 8 hours. He was also threatened by the receiving State Security official Víctor who told him that he has not much time left when he is free.
