On Saturday 11 May 2019 in the morning hours, the victim, along with other people, was on his way to join a parade supporting LGBTI community in Havana. When arrived to Los Palacios Bridge, a patrol car stopped the bus which was used for the transportation, and asked for the IDs. Some of the activists had to get off the bus. The victim was driven to the National Revolutionary Police in Los Palacios where he was kept until sunset. Then he was taken to Pinar del Río without any explanation, just with a ban to participate in the parade.
