UNPACU activist detained for 72 hours and threatened



Rafael Puentes Creme was going by car to the city of Santiago de Cuba in order to attend a pacific meeting organized by the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU). There were two other activsts with him in the car - Yoanny Beltrán Gamboa and Bartolo Cantillo Romero. When they were on the second kilometer of the road, they were stopped by patrol cars no. 606, 613 and 605, a red car belonging to the State Security and two Suzuki motorcles. At that place, they were detained by police and State Security officers, based on the instructions of Major Sergio, who is known for his orders to beat up Ladies in White and activists. Puentes Creme was driven to the municipality of Niceto Pérez where he was kept for 72 hours. During that period, he was threatened by official Kevin who told him that he will be soon put in jail for meeting counter-revolutionary elements such as José Daniel Ferrer García, Yoanny Beltrán, Henry Couto and others.
