On August 18, 2015, an activist from the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU) was detained at his home in the province of Holguín by several uniformed members of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR), while Lieutenant Alberto Pérez Góngora, State Security officer, who was leading the operation, searched the activist's home without legal authorization and confiscated various materials from the dissent. The UNPACU activist was taken to a red LADA vehicle; moment in which the activist, without knowing the causes for his arrest, shouted anti-government slogans. Several people gathered in the place, observing and commenting against the police arbitrariness against the victim. Due to the slogans uttered by the victim, one of the officers brutally used one of his hands to cover his mouth. Later, he was forced into the vehicle, driven to the Police Station of the municipality itself and moments later he was transferred to the municipality of Moa, located 37 kilometers away, where he remained on a hunger strike for 4 days. The victim was being processed for an alleged crime of disobedience by the Captain Yodanis Cardoza.
