Lázaro Luis Ruiz Echevarría, the human rights defender and the Director of the Panorama Pinareño Bulletin, was brutally detained by the State Security (DSE). The defender was in Colon Street, when the officers of the State Security Captain Juan Perez and Major Orestes Ayala appeared. They forced him to get in the red car Lada that belongs to the Ministry of the Interior. In the car, his face was savagely beaten by officer Orestes Alaya. At the station, he was prosecuted for the crime of public disorder, beaten and threatened. He was detained for 24 hours. Lázaro claims that he had not committed any crime and that the reason for his detention was his work as Director of the Panorama Pinareño Bulletin. Two activists, Esteban Ajete Abascal and Yaimel Rodriguez Arroyo, were detained along with Lázaro for taking photos of the DSE detention. All photos from their cell phones were removed (photos from the action along with their family photos) and after being threatened, 4 hours later, they were released.
