Activist detained for alleged crime of spreading epidemics



Nelson Acosta Ríos was on his way to the house of Reynaldo Batista when he heard a noise of a motorcycle and shouting of his name. It was the police officers Víctor and Alberto Surí. They told him and to Batista that they had to accompany them. They rode them in the patrol car number 208 to the Police Station and took them to an office situated in the last floor. There were waiting other activists that had been detained before them. After few minutes, Acosta Ríos was taken to another office where was waiting the political police officer called Dayron who informed Acosta Ríos that the next Monday, December 28, he is summoned to the Hygiene Department for spreading epidemics when distributing food. He was released after 2 hours.
