At 5 am, activist Kirenia García Frómeta was detained on her way to church to participate in mass, accompanied by her brother-in-law on a bicycle. A block away from her house, they were stopped by a patrol car with an official of State Security and two policemen. The Major of the Security, known as Mijaíl, put Frómeta in the car and drove her to the detention unit known as Parque 24. There, she was threatened and verbally mistreated by Mayor Mijaíl in front of his officials, who ridiculed her for her faith. According to him, the best that she could do would be to turn away from the opposition. Kirenia was released the same day at 12 pm.
