An activist detained on her way to Mass



At 6 am, Yusmary Charón Lamoth, a human rights activist, was on her way to the center of Gunatanamo City to attend Mass in the church. When she was waiting at the bus stop, major Cantillo, a State Security official, and two policemen came to her. Yusmary was detained right at the bus stop and put into the patrol car No. 600. She was driven to the detention center known as Parque 24. She was told, that according to the order, she is not allowed to attend Mass because she is a counterrevolutionary. She was also threatened with imprisonment. Finally, she was released at 12 pm that same day.
