An independent journalist from the on-line media outlet Cubanet, Vladimir Turro Pérez, was arrested on the street by National Revolutionary Police (PNR) agents. That morning, Turro Pérez, along with his colleague, was on his way to the Central Havana in order to cover a story of a family being moved out. After the arrest, he was driven to the 6th Police Unit in the municipality of Playa where he was kept for 4 hours. On 24 February, he was arrested again on the street by a police vehicle and its crew. Then he was taken to the police unit in the municipality of La Lisa. This time, Turro Pérez was heading to the Old Havana where he was about to follow a protest of a group of catholic youth. At the police unit, he was interrogated by secret police officials and threatened with a fine amounting 15.000 pesos for an alleged illegal economic activity.
