Detained and fined for putting flowers on a bust

Mayra García Álvarez was at her home when two law enforcement officers and an officer of the Political Police arrived. The latter told Mayra that she had to accompany him to the Police Station. Mayra was transferred to the police station and there they took her to an office. No arrest warrant was issued as established by law, but they did apply a fine for the value of $150.00 pesos (€ 4.60) for: "having carried a floral offering to be placed on José Martí's bust in her hands." After 30 minutes, she was released.
