Jean Pierre Isla Pérez was arrested on the street. Suddenly, agents of the National Revolutionary Police asked him for an identity document and confiscated his laptop and mobile phone. He was taken to 100 and Aldabo street where a Lieutenant Colonel, who did not identify himself, asked him about his trip to a workshop in the United States. For not communicating the reasons for his arrest on January 28, 2018, he met with another unidentified major to explain the reasons for the trip he made in the provinces of the East and center of the country, in addition to the activity he did in Havana with members of the independent civil society. Already on January 29, 2018, two agents of the State Security informed him that the reason he had been detained was to explain the trips he made and the work he was doing after his return. They pointed out that if they confirmed a visit by a member of a NGO to him, they would make a record of his house and those of his acquaintances in order to find resources related to his work and confiscate them. After that, they put him in a vehicle and left him on Alamar street and did not return his belongings, only the wallet with his documents and 50 CUP (1.5 euros) so he could make the trip back home. The rest stayed with them and they did not give him any documentation of the occupation.
