An activist from Pinar del Río prevented from leaving Cuba without any explanation

On 23 February 2021, an independent lawyer and human rights defender, Madelyn Rodríguez Martín, went to the police unit after she had visited an office responsible for extending validity of passports. There she had been informed that her request would not be processed since her travel status had been restricted due to public interest. The official had also explained her that she would have to contact the police unit in order to learn more about the restriction. When Rodríguez Martín arrived to the police station, she was received by the deputy head of the unit. She explained him her situation, but the official replied he that he had nothing to do with this issue and she would have to ask the State Security.
