State Security interrogated Yuri Laza Montes, activist of CID

Yuri Laza Montes, human rights defender and activist of the Cuban Independent and Democratic Party (CID), who resigned two months ago as the vice president of the Sabino Pupo Agricultural Products Cooperative after denouncing the corruption that exists in that cooperative, was arbitrarily detained by two agents of the State Security - Lieutenant Yoel Domínguez and Captain Humberto Rodríguez. Yuri was taken to the police unit in the municipality of Mantua. There, he was subjected to a long interrogation about the activities of the CID in that location. In this interrogation, Yuri answered without fear of repression by the officials and described the hard work that was done by the members of the CID and the fight for liberty and democracy among the Cuban people. His objective was to rescue the true revolution. When the officials heard this, they started to be furious, aggressive, and they threatened him that if he didn't stop doing these activities with the CID they would imprison him for a common crime. He was released after eleven hours of detention under cruel and inhumane treatment. Even after all the threats from the State Security agents, Yuri continues his work in the CID, which he says he will never give up.
