On 2 October 2018, at 11:30 am Gisela Padin Perera was arbitrary detained by the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) in Pinar del Río. Gisela works as a freelancer and at that moment, she was as usually in her office in the Pepe Portilla Street. For the second time in an hour, a police officer indentified with the badge number 11644, together with the State Security official known as "Felucho", appeared at her place. They asked her to show her ID and threatened her with imprisonment. Gisela told them that as a citizen, she has certain rights to be respected. Immediately thereafter, a patrol car arrived and Gisela was detained. Her husband, Agustín Jesús González González, went to search for Gisela and got to know her whereabouts an hour later when his friend told him that Gisela was kept in detention in the police unit in Pinar del Río as well as she was accused of disobedience. Gisela was released on 5 October at 7:50 pm, after having spent three days in a prison cell. Moreover, she is currently waiting for a trial based on the accusation of disobedience.
