A man from Guantánamo attacked by MININT officials and detained for 6 hours

On 22 September, 2020, René Álvarez Arias was detained by officials from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), when he was on the way home in a pedicab. René was carrying with him products he had bought in a special shop, co-called tienda recaudadora de divisa. The officials told him to open his bag, but René refused by saying that this should be done at the police station and that they are violating his rights. When he said it, the officials attacked him with special police techniques and put him in the patrol car no. 621. Then he was driven to the police unit called Parque 24. René was released six hours later with a fine for disobedience amounting 300 pesos.
