A freelancer from Guantánamo detained for 4 days and threatened

Vilmar Sarmiento Monjes is a freelancer and runs a bike repair shop. On 10 February 2018, the officials from the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) and the Technical Investigative Police (PTI) searched his house (so called allanamiento) where they were looking for any object of dubious provenance. They detained him and took him to the police unit known as Parque 24. They confiscated him 4000 pesos in the national currency (CUP) and two newly repaired bicycle tires. An unidentified PTI officer threatened him that if he did not become a police collaborator, he would be in trouble - which Vilmar refused. He was released on 14 February at 8 pm without any further consequences.
