Cuban citizen banned from performing religious activities in her home without the government's permission

Officials from the office that attends to fraternal and religious organizations in Guantánamo visited the house of worship of the Pentecostal church located at 89 Moncada Street. According to the officials, this visit was due to the fact that the house of worship was not authorized, because it did not have the documents that authorized it to function as such. The owner of the house was summoned by the head of the sector, who accompanied the officials to this visit, at the Delegation of the Ministry of Interior to talk to her. The citizen demanded that he gave her an official summons to appear at the unit but Captain Gianny Clape Rodriguez threatened to arrest her if she did not appear at the delegation. The citizen presented herself at the unit on the morning of June 26 and was attended by the official who attends to fraternal and religious organizations through the Ministry of Interior, Major Luis Utria, who told her that in order for her to be able to carry out any kind of religious activities in her home and outside it, she had to request a permit from the head of the fraternal and religious organizations of the municipality or from the Ministry of Interior because if she did not do so, she was committing a crime and could be fined and even lose her home. The official also explained to her that since it was the first time something like this had happened, she was going to let it go, but she could not continue practicing these religious works without permission because she would be fined for contempt.
