In the afternoon hours, an activist from the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU), Alnardo Nico Roche, was detained by a sector police chief, Captain Gianny Clape Rodríguez, with two more officials from the special troops and the chief of the Committee for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), Delia Frometa. The special troops officials took him to the patrol car and drove him to the National Revolutionary Police Unit (PNR). Nico Roche was kept there for more than 24 hours under interrogation led by Lieutenant Colonel Lesnier Leiva, the State Security Chief in the town. The official told the activist that he would not allow him or any other activist to initiate a disturbance in the town and that he gives him 24 hours to leave for his home town. Nico Roche was released on the next day at 5 pm. Before that, he was threatened with a new detention if he did not fulfill the 24-hour deadline.
