Giorvis Chivas Castillo detained at the checkpoint in Cayamo

On February 21, 2016, Giorvis Chivas Castillo was going to attend Sunday Mass in the Santuario del Cobre in Santiago de Cuba province. The Mass is carried out in order to support Ladies in White and Todos Marchamos campaign which calls for freedom for political prisoners. At 5:30 am, Giorvis was detained at the checkpoint in Cayamo by secret police chief in Caimanera Cantillo, a State Security official Montalvo and the National Revolutionary Police. He was later driven to the Police Department in Caimanera. He was detained until 10 am and then released.
