UNPACU activist detained while heading to a protest march



An activist Yonny Figuereda was going to Santiago de Cuba province to participate in a protest march which was being conducted to demand the release of political prisoners and to end the political repression against activists. At 6 am in Alto de Palmar, the police intercepted a bus Yonny was travelling by and detained him. He was taken to the Police Department in municipality of Jamaica where he was threatened by State Security official Pedro. He was detained for several hours and released.
