Human rights activist detained and threatened for her activities in the Artemisa Province

On 30 April 2019, at 2:40 pm, Arelis Rodríguez Silva was detained after having been summoned to the police unit in Alquízar. There, Arelis was subjected to a harsh interrogation and threats for the work she is developing in the local community when she established several delegations of the organization Independent and Democratic Cuba (CID) in that municipality. Before her arrival to the region, there had been no similar organization and for that reason, she is subjected to repression from the secret police which tries to make her stop her activities. If not, she was threatened with imprisonment. She was kept detained until 1 May and released at 12:30 pm.
