Cuban citizen arrested and fined for theft even though she bought from ETECSA

On 4th April 4, 2018, Mayory Labortes Coto bought a cell phone from Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA) with its property and guarantee insured. Fifteen days later, the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) arrested her because that cell phone was reported stolen. Despite the fact that the owner of the cell phone corroborated that she was not the one who had stolen it, the citizen was detained for 4 days. She stated that she had bought it from ETECSA and that she had the documents that proved it, however, when verifying this information it did not appear in the system that she had bought it, the documents were false. As a consequence, she was imposed an administrative sanction of a fine and the mobile phone was returned to the owner, so the citizen lost the investment to buy it.
