Activist from Caimanera attacked on the street and then detained for 16 days

On 27 September 2017, Yery Curbelo Aguilar, a human rights defender and a member of the Eastern Democratic Alliance (ADO), was on his way home. Suddenly, two government collaborators started to shout insults at him. He tried to leave the place immediately, however the offenders attacked him. The whole incident took just a while as other people on the street separated them. After the incident, Yery was detained by police and State Security officials who were accusing him of causing an injury. However, the only person injured was Yery. He was then driven to so-called operations unit in Guantánamo where he was kept for 16 days. Then he was released.
