Independent lawyer summoned and interrogated at the State Security

On Monday 3 June 2019 at 10 am, human rights defender Madelyn Rodríguez Martín along with her mother arrived to the Sate Security Instruction Center against Crimes as they were summoned the day before by State Security official Captain Otoniel. Rodríguez Martín described that she had been treated as a criminal, the officers had taken her fingerprints and opened a case file. State Security official Otoniel and his colleague also issued an official warning. Four hours later, the interrogation focused on their involvement in independent organizations and reception of the materials they need for the human rights activities they are carrying out. Additionally, she was informed that she was banned from leaving the country until her case will be finished. She was also told that supporting and giving pieces of advice to the citizens is considered as an usurpation of state functions as well as an aggravating circumstance for her case.
