Eastern Democratic Alliance (ADO) activist Alexander Rodríguez Santiesteban went to the wifi point to send a job he had pending but could not get through to the Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Cuba S.A. (ETECSA) network. As the connection error indicated that someone else was using his account, he decided to call the service number (*2266) where he was asked for her full name and ID number to check if anyone was on the account, but was told that everything seemed normal and that he could connect. According to the activist, hours later he connected and the account was hacked by ETECSA so that he would not give the information to the colleague to whom he was going to send the work, who was also hacked into his account.
