At 11 am, 16 September, Julio García Jiménez was detained by sector chief and officials from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), when he was expressing his opinion on the current economic situation in the country. He also said that the elections were fake and the voting process was instrumented by the government. Jiménez was taken by the MININT officials and driven to the police unit known as Parque 24. There, he was kept in detention for more than 48 hours - he was released on 18 September at 7 pm. Before leaving, he was threatened and warned that if he was involved in anything similar, he would be processed for disobedience and enemy propaganda.
