On January 31, 2016, Yoanny Beltrán Gamboa was going to attend Mass and campaign calling for freedom for political prisoners and the end of political repression carried out by regime. At 6:30 am, Yoanny was detained and beaten by police and State Security officials. By order of Major Bryan, who is in charge of fighting political opponents, was driven to the Police Department together with other activist, Henry Couto Guzmán. Yoanny was threatened and released at the same day at 3.30 pm.
