An independent lawyer unable to extend his passport without justification

Jean Pierre Isla Pérez, went to the identification offices in order to get an extension for his passport. After a long wait, he entered the waiting room at 2:00 p.m. and arrived at the reception at 2:30 p.m. He said what he had come for and they checked him in on the system. They then asked him to hand in his passport and wait which was not normal for a passport extension. Other people kept advancing and he kept waiting to be attended. Eventually, they identified him as an opponent of the regime controlled by State Security. At 2:45 p.m., he was told that the problem was that his passport was not active, which was not logical since he had traveled repeatedly and was registered in the emigration system. In order not to attract more attention, the officials clarified their situation in a loud voice and at 2:55 p.m. they took his prints and the photo so that they would continue normally with the process. At 3:50 p.m. he returned to pick up his passport and stamp for the extension. At 4:10 pm they returned it and he realized that they put the stamp in the wrong location.
