Demetria Trujillo Ramallo was preparing a public protest against low wages, high food prices, the milk quota miserable and against the politicization of education in Cuba, directed by the Cuban Revolutionary Party, led by its national delegate. She was shouting "Freedom, Freedom", when she and other were intercepted by political police within minutes after the protest had started.
About 10 troops arrived in a small bus, and as they were preying bandits, pushed them handcuffed. Then they forcibly put Demetria with colleagues inside the bus. Being there the police began to offend and threaten the victim. Already in the police station she was beaten according to the victim. She stayed there with other activists for several hours until they began to look one by one for questioning. Afterwards they let them go.
Demetria said that before releasing they were threatened with imprisonment.
