Independent journalist was threatened at his home in Baracoa by State Security agents.

On December 10, 2020, the independent activist and journalist Randy Caballero Suárez was threatened in his own home by State Security Major Alfredo Oliveros and the captain and sector chief of the neighbourhood known by the name of Gianny Clape Rodríguez. Both went to the activist's home only to threaten him with arrest if he dared to go out on the street that day, or to create any type of disturbance somewhere in the city or municipality. The activist was also threatened by the agents in the following way: if he did not comply with what they were telling him, they were going to do a search of his house and to leave it “clean.” Furthermore, he was told not try his luck as it could run out and that they did not forget all the lies that he dared to spread about the revolution on the enemy media stations, and that punishment was awaiting him. With help of people such as Major Alfredo Oliveros, Lieutenant Colonel Lesnier Leiva, Captain Neuri Durán Pajan, Lieutenant Colonel Diecel Castro Pelegrín, Major Luis Utría, Major Gerneydy Romero Matos, among others, the State Security exerts excessive pressure against activists of human rights, political opponents and their families and also against the population in general. On December 10, 2020, Major Alfredo Oliveros violated the article # 20 (freedom of assembly and peaceful association), which says that all people have the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association. The regime has forbidden this right to the activist in the most cruel way as it has threatened him with imprisonment or confiscation of all his belongings, including the means of communication, such as his cell phone.
