Activist detained on his way to the Municipal Court in Colón

Elis Guilarte Aranda along with 4 other activists from Pedro Luis Boitel’ s Party for Democracy were on the way to the Municipal Court of Colón in order to attend a trial with Lázaro Díaz Sanchez. When approaching, they were all detained by major Luis Gustavo Sotolongo García and prevented from attending the trial. After that, Eglis Guilarte was put into the patrol car no. 832. While sitting inside the car and waiting, major Sotolongo verbally provoked Elis by doing obscene gestures, telling him, he was a mercenary and he could let him disappear. When they arrived to the Police Department in Colón, Elis was given an official warning and fined $30.00 CUP. He was released at 3:10 pm.
