An independent journalist Yoel Acosta Gámez was detained by several police officers when he was on his way back from work. He was then taken to the police station in Baracoa and later on, he was transported to the police unit in Guantánamo known as Parque 24. There, he was threatened with imprisonment by an unknown State Security (DSE) agent. When Yoel's wife arrived to the police station in Guantánamo in order to learn more about the legal situation of her husband, she was told that he was not kept there. Yoel was detained there for 8 days and then driven to the police station in the municipality of Imías. Before his release, the officials confiscated him his digital camera, cell phone and 1800 pesos.
