A Cuban citizen was arrested by the head of the sector, First Lieutenant Alfonso Tomacen, and by informant Angel Caballero. The arrest followed a complaint made against him by Ms. Manuela Perdomo, head of the Committee for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), which is located in front of the work center where the citizen works. The denunciation was caused because Ms. Perdomo passed by the place at the precise moment when Eduardo was talking to a fellow worker about the difficult situation the Cubans were going through. Upon hearing this, Ms. Perdomo told him that instead of talking badly about the revolution, what he should get to work, that he was wasting his time. She went on to say that people like him were nothing but parasites who instead of contributing to the revolution, all they did was criticize the government, and that in front of her, he could not speak ill of the revolution because the revolution did everything possible so that the people would have what they needed to live, but people like him were the ones who did not allow the country to move forward with their unconstructive criticism. The citizen responded angrily, defending his right to criticize, demanding respect and questioning her attention to her private conversation. Ms. Perdomo was enraged by this response and when she went to the sector and accused him. Immediately, the sector chief came to the place where the citizen works and told him that for disrespecting Ms. Perdomo, he had to fine her $100 CUC (84.9 EUR) and warn him in public so that he would learn to respect a revolutionary. The citizen explained to the sector chief that she was the one who had gotten into other people's conversations and insulted him, and in the interest of equality he demanded that he fine her as well.
